How to Play
You move the Butcher with a joystick, and he attacks with the weapons chained to him. Hook an enemy, finish it and you eat it, which adds its stats to yours. A green pool on Meadowlands heals you, and enemies come back on timers, so you farm an island until you are strong enough for the next one. Players report that beating an island boss opens the gate onward.
Later the game opens more systems. The mine quests unlock weapon slots and the Blacksmith, the Legendary Dragon opens the Soul Tree, map bosses drop the gems for the Boss Tower portal, and the Crystal Guardian leads to the Demonic Forge. For a daily farming routine, follow the level up fast guide.
Hook, Eat and Grow
The hook is the core of the game. It pulls an enemy into reach, and once it dies the Butcher eats it. Each enemy carries a small stat drop, such as +1 Pierce Damage or a chunk of Health, and every drop stays with your hero for good. That is why the game feels idle: even a slow farm keeps raising your numbers.
Enemies on each island use one weapon type and are weak to another, and the island card shows both before you enter. Matching your weapons to the weakness and your armor to the enemy weapon speeds up every kill. The builds page lists sets for farming and for bosses.
Gameplay Video
One player starts a fresh game on Meadowlands and plays the first island from the first hook to the first unlocks, which is the quickest way to see how the hook, the eating and the stat gains fit together.
Islands and Chests
The map has 17 islands in a fixed order, from Meadowlands to Vampire's Sanctum. The first 4 islands hide one secret chest each, and 12 later islands hide 4 each, so the chest hunt grows with the map. Each chest pays a permanent stat bonus, and some add a weapon card.
Chests sit off the main path: on ledges, behind walls, inside buildings. The chest list has a screenshot of every spot, and the map page shows the order of the islands with their medals and gates.
Free Players and Spenders
You can reach every island without paying. Kills, chests, island medals and the Soul Tree all raise stats for free, and the shop has an offerwall that pays Gems for finished tasks. Paying speeds things up: VIP levels add Multicast, a Daily Chest, auto farm and extra slots, and Gems buy shop chests and event boosters.
If you play for free, spend Gems where they last: weapon chests with a high Chest Level and the boosters of an event you can finish. The free Gems guide lists every free source, and the VIP page shows what each level adds, so you can judge a purchase before you make it.
Events and Leagues
Events run on a timer on top of the normal map. The Crystal Event fills islands with crystal golems that drop event currency, and Boss Hunt adds event bosses to beat for rewards. Your result places you in a league from Bronze to Diamond, and each league adds new Event Perks that change the rules for that run. Mythic items, the strongest gear in the game, come from event rewards. The events page explains leagues, perks and farming.
Playing on PC
Google Play lists a Windows version of the game, so you can install it on a PC through the official store instead of an Android emulator. Progress moves between devices through Cloud Saves: link your account with Google Play Games or Game Center in the Profile window first. Avoid modified APK downloads, which can break your save or carry malware.
Download and Platforms
The game costs nothing to install on Android and iOS. The App Store version is 2.1.0, updated October 26, 2026, with a size of 258 MB and iOS 15.0 or newer. Google Play also lists a Windows version for PC. Use only the official store buttons below, and see the download page for offline play and Cloud Saves.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do some guides call it Hook n Chew?
Hook'n'Chew RPG was the original store name. The listing now reads Butcher Hero: Monster Idle RPG, but it is the same game by MULTICAST GAMES with the same progress, so guides and videos made under the old name still apply, as long as they match the current version.
Is Butcher Hero free to play?
Yes. Installing costs nothing on either store, and the shop sells Gems, boosters and a No Ads purchase. Google Play rates it 4 and the App Store 4.7. The age labels are Everyone 10+ on Google Play and 13+ on the App Store, and the parents guide lists what each label covers.
Does Butcher Hero need internet?
No, a connection is optional for most of the game. Without one you keep playing in Limited Mode, and the full feature set comes back once you reconnect. Linking your account in the Profile window turns on Cloud Saves, which protects your progress if you switch phones. The download page covers both stores and the Windows version.
What should I do first in Butcher Hero?
Clear Meadowlands and open its one secret chest, then push through the islands in order and open new weapon slots through the mine quests. Redeem the working code early. Once you harvest the soul of the Legendary Dragon, the Soul Tree opens and souls from kills pay for upgrades.
Are the secret chests worth hunting?
Yes. The map hides 57 of them, 54 on the 17 islands and 3 inside the Boss Tower arenas. Each one gives a permanent stat bonus, and the chest achievements add Health bonuses, a Divine Soul and a Chaotic Soul. The chest pages show a screenshot of every spot and the reward it gives.
